Many people erroneously believe they're making progress because they're working hard. A good way to predict the direction of your life is to measure how much of your time you're actually trying to enhance it. Then consider how much of your time is spent just maintaining the status quo. Most people believe they want something better and are working hard to accomplish it. In most cases, they're expending a lot of mental energy wishing, fantasising, and worrying. None of these are reliable ways to enhance your life. It's easy to get caught up in planning your future. I look at every experience as a blessing. Every chance I get to participate in something is an opportunity to learn something new. Even when the outcome is unfavourable, I push myself to find the deeper meaning. I become wiser with every error I make. I take the time to learn how to approach a situation differently the next time around. When someone in authority criticises my performance, I accept it. I use criticism to help me grow and do better in the future. I try to never make the same error twice. I accept that I am a flawed individual, but I strive to correct my weaknesses.
Thinking about the fact we are not immortal and pondering the end of our life’s journey no doubt brings forth all kinds of feelings: fear, denial, sadness, and maybe even remorse. Regardless of the emotions we may feel, we can be sure of one thing: we all will eventually leave this life. No matter what we believe about what happens once we pass, the fact is we’ll no longer be physically present on this earth. Bare with me I am not getting all "morbid" on you but I think it's important that instead of just being on a conveyor belt of life we ask ourselves; How can I deepen my experience of life to get the most from it?
A lot of us find it not easy to get out of bed earlier than absolutely necessary. But there are numerous benefits to being an early riser. The morning is an excellent time for many activities. You can also get your day off on the right foot. There are career, health, and psychological benefits to getting up early. The key is to use the extra time wisely.
Perfectionism is about avoiding feelings of shame and inadequacy. By being perfect, you have permission to not feel bad about yourself. However, you never quite feel good about yourself. As a perfectionist you aren’t trying to achieve something great by avoid the negative feeling of being anything less than perfect.
