How to Boost Your Immunity with Thieves oil

HiyaGorgeous

Every autumn / winter you could guarantee I would pick up every cold and cough going around my children’s school until I started using a range of essential oil to help protect me and my over the cold, damp months.

One of my favorite winter blends is called thieves oil, this blend of oil packed full of therapeutic, antibacterial and antiviral properties, which boost immunity and support the body’s natural defenses. This blend of 5 essential oils is not a new blend; in fact this blend dates back in history as far as the Black Plague in the middle ages.

The historical story goes; In France there were some perfumers by day and thieves by night. They robbed peoples houses at the dead of night of those who had died of the bubonic plague. Now this plague was highly contagious but not one member of this group of thieves ever contracted the disease, despite coming into contact with it every night. This continued for weeks until the king found out and they were captured. The king forced them to give up their secret weapon they used to not catch the plague.  The reason they gave, was they made a mixture up that include Clove, Lemon,  Cinnamon, Eucalyptus and Rosemary essential oils mixed with a base of white wine vinegar. Ever since this blend of oils has been known as “Thieves Oil”

Whats Essential Oils Are In Thieves Oil ?

The Best Way to Use Thieves Oil

Diffusion To Help Keep Your Environment Healthy  – Add six to eight drops of this blend  to your diffuser and only let it diffuse for around 30 minutes.

Aromatherapy – Mix 5 drops with 10 ml of a base oil (coconut oil, almond oil, olive oil etc..) and pour your mixture into a roll on essential oil bottle. Then roll your protection blend on your pulse points to protect your self from winter bugs and stay healthy. If you do become ill, rolling this blend on the base of your feet or on your chest will help clear and congestion and help you relax enough to have a good sleep, while your body recovers.

Disinfectant  – Add four to five drops of this blend to your kitchen cloth to wipe down, kitchen units, cooker, sink etc…  (You can also do the same by adding the same amount of drops to your bathroom cleaning cloth before you wipe down your bathroom sink or bath / shower) Add twenty drops of this blend to a bucket of warm water before washing your floors.

Caution – clove and cinnamon essential oil not mixed with a base or carrier oil can cause skin irritation. If you tend to sunburn easily don’t use on your skin, if you are going out in the sun (even though you have mixed your blend with a base oil).  Do not use this blend in your bath or as a facial sauna and only diffuse for short periods of time (30 minutes maximum), due to its strong properties which can cause other health issues if over used. Also if you are an expectant mum or breast feeding I strongly advice you avoid using cinnamon or clove essential oils due to its powerful properties.
